Wow what a crazy summer it has been!
The wedding season for me started back in May, with the fabulous wedding of Kelly and Sean, they had a selection of cupcakes with daisies and sunflowers along with a truly personalised cutting cake.
June started with two weddings one at the beautiful Norfolk Mead, with a simple ruffle cake with pink roses and another at Elm Farm Country house which featured blue hydrangeas. The rest of June was crammed full of celebration cakes and we managed to get a week away in France staying at Le Grange Gites, which we would highly recommend!
Moving into July I had the pleasure of making a fabulously simple three tier with a bright blue painted nautical effect, finished off with fresh flowers supplied by the Swaffham and Fakenham florist, this was definitely the heaviest cake of the season, which was delivered and set up at The Hoste in Burnham Market. The same day saw me travel over to Kathryn and Jeremy's wedding which was in the most beautifully decorated marquee at Eve's hill farm in Booton (also a campsite if anyone is looking for a beautiful countryside site), with their fabulous ideas I created a birch tree slice effect bottom tier and three white tiers on top with a hessian trim.
The second wedding weekend of July also saw me heading to two separate venues with a pink and silver accented square cake with a personalised topper, including a yellow Citroen Saxo, for Leanna and Chris at the Oaklands, Norwich.
My second cake of the weekend was simple with piped white dots and a Cadbury purple ribbon. The rest of July was filled with lovely celebration cakes including so beautiful wedding anniversary cakes and a camping trip to Suffolk!
August saw the creation of my most popular designs of wedding cake! The first being slightly different with a blue covering, traditional Royal iced beading and lots of hand made sugar flowers, a personalised bride and groom topper finished off the cake and was delivered out to a venue in Suffolk.
My suitcase creation based on a design of cake which the bride had found was a collection of three types of vintage style cases with gorgeous hand made sugar peonies and roses in beautiful coral and blush pink, this was delivered out to lenwade house and the marquee looked beautiful!
I had the pleasure of creating a cake designed by the bride for delivery out to the stunning Chaucer barn towards the middle of August, this white two tier featured hessian and lace as well as statement brooches and hand crafted peonies and roses.
The last cake of August was a black white and silver cupcake tower adorned with butterflies and set up at the brides parents pub in a beautifully co-ordinated marquee!
As I approached September I had a few incredibly busy weekends filled with celebration cakes before making a massive four tier naked cake filled with lashings of buttercreams and conserves and decorated with fresh berries.
My last wedding of the season was definitely my favourite, the bride was a joy to work with and gave me a little bit of free reign on the final details, the ruffle cake featured deep and dusty purple roses and a peony along with a few white blossoms and hydrangeas too, I got to deliver the cake to The Fox in Lyng where I was met by the most friendly staff!
